Communication is a KEY

Communication is a key factor in life especially when it comes to the kitchen. There must be constant talks with executive chefs, sous chefs, cook, and even the front of the house. Everyone needs to know and be sure of what they have to do so that there are no mistakes. The front of the house has to understand every ingredient in each dish for health reasons and also to inform the customers if they have any questions about the dishes or are not sure whether or not to order a plate. Also, they need to keep up the high expectations of the restaurant to make sure the goals are met at all times.

At Eleven Madison Park Restaurant communication was an essential factor. The prep team was always communicating with each station to double check on their “helping duties for the day”. Also they had to make sure that their work was more than perfect and exceeding quality expectations. In addition, the sous chef always made sure that they had an ideal plan to accomplish everything on time. Every morning, each station had to check their mise en place and communicate any problem to the sous chef before the ‘rush hours’ started. For the first few hours of the day, everyone on the kitchen had to be in constant communication with the sous chef to make sure that they were on track and to talk about any changes that may have been made unexpectedly. The front of the house also had to make sure that there were not changes in the menu. If it was the case that we had some changes they had to be informed immediately so that they could communicate the message to our clients. When it came time for service the chef the cuisine was always expediting the food and making sure everyone was on track.

Given that it is such a renowned restaurant, communication was always a secret to our success. Chefs were always checking on you and your work, making sure that everything was great. Furthermore, our time was very valuable so they did not wanted people doing the same work since it resulted in a waste of time and money.

In conclusion, one of the biggest successes of the restaurant was their great communication. Eleven Madison Park was always on top of the game and their communication skills were somewhat key into this.
